WikiAnswers says: The difference between a college and a university is that a college just offers a collection of degrees in one specific area, while a university is a collection of colleges. When you go to a university you are going to be graduating from one of their colleges, such as the business college. As to which is better, it depends on what you want. Single colleges tend to be smaller while universities are bigger, but universities are better known.

And it seems that if you wanna live in cold, you live in the warm areas right now. And vice versa.

And I always wondered how you party. I know you get in trouble if you party in your dorm room. So you go off campus (like to someone's apartment). But I always wondered if a friend invited you to a friend of a friend's party, if it was okay.

ah thanks, that makes a lot more sense. It doesnt really work like that here. Most are universities then kinda like you said with the colleges in uni - it's split up into different sections but it's not called colleges. Maybe they call them schools...
Like because i'm doing psychology and geography - i'm in the social sciences section. Which also includes sociology and law and anthropology.

There are a few which i think are like what you would call colleges though these are typically for art or i know there are private Law colleges.
Mainly though people are at uni which do a range of subjects.
Oxford, Cambridge and Durham are split into colleges but these are where you live and eat and are not course/subject specific. They all have the same courses available. So there is a lot of inter college sports and things - more like 'houses' at school (i dont know if you have them in the States but think HP houses, griffindor slytherin etc)

Where i am in halls of residence on campus - you are in a block with has about 8 flats in it each with about 6 people in where you share a kitchen between the 6. You're really close to all the other blocks - they're like right next door so its really sociable.
And most people have parties in their kitchens as our rooms are too small for more than like 5 people haha. But after a certain time if you're too noisy these people will come and yell at you but they wont shut it down unless they have to tell you to be quiet load of times.
Most of the time we'd pre drink in someones flat then head into town to one of the clubs/bars there are there is a different place each night which is like the uni's own night where everyone goes - you dont mix with the locals who live there.

Sorry no one probably wanted to know all that, but thought i;d share haha.
