Though right now in the process of choosing a uni in the states for my semester abroad :D i hope i dont have to write anything else... that personal statement killed me.

haaha so basically, i brought this hell upon myself. but whatever.

ohhgod me too. i adore columbia. like, i applied early decision, but i got deferred. ugh ugh ugh. my SAT score is above their middle 50%, but i'm a white female and my parents are still married and both have college degrees. sooo the moral of the story is, i'm fuucked when it comes to the diversity aspect of it. which is irritating, because that's the one part of the app where there's absolutely nothing i could do to improve. it's just totally outside of my control, and it's the weakest part of my app.

but they can rescind your admission if they find out you lied about ANYTHING. &if they find out after you've already gotten a degree, they can take away your degree. it's craaazy. sooo i don't think i'd risk that.

oh well. if all else fails, i'll go chill in wisconsin at marquette 8]

These are the partner colleges with my uni, i'll just copy and paste the list:

California State University, Sacramento

Easter Michigan University, Michigan

SUNY Group - State Universities of New York, Brockport College

University of Rhode Island, Kingston

University of South Florida, Tampa.

 

There are others too in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Massachusetts but they're for specific courses i'm not doing. 

Out of those i'd like either USF or California state - i want it to be sunny and warm :)

@annie: i can tell you from experience that brockport is like the exact opposite of sunny and warm, haaha. it's like an hour and a half or so from where i live, and the weather is crap. so eliminating that as a choice is wise. but i bet sacramento or USF would be awesome!

@paige/tinsley (haaha i'll never stop having the impulse to call you that): i'll try to give you a rundown of the SUNYs i'm familiar with, but i don't really know a whole lot about all of them, so i'll do my best... what are you interested in majoring in and stuff?

-plattsburgh is supposed to be really good for communications, but i think it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, which is why i didn't end up applying there.

-brockport... i know a couple of people who are there, and they seem to be pretty happy with it, but that's about all i know. i think it's pretty close to rochester, and there's a decent amount to do there.

-stony brook is supposed to be good academically, my bff is there right now and she likes it well enough (or at least, she hates it less than she hates most things). she's going for pre-med and i guess the program is supposed to be good. their journalism program is good too, which is why i'm applying. the fact that it's on LI is nice, and apparently it's pretty cheap to take the train to NYC. the only specific complaint i've heard is that campus food sucks, but that's pretty much the case anywhere.

-potsdam is good for music and stuff, i have a couple of friends who are going to be in their dance program next year (i guess it's not all that selective, though). apparently all there is to do in potsdam is drink, or so i've heard, and i guess that gets old after a while.

-fredonia is also really good for music, and it's kind of close to buffalo.

-geneseo is supposed to be one of the best academically, but it's right in the middle of nowhere.

-binghamton is also supposed to be one of the best academically. i know someone who's a freshman there now, and she said she likes it a lot.

-oswego is good for broadcasting and teaching, but just don't go there. seriously. i've lived in osweegz for 18 years and it's just awful. the campus is pretty, though, since it's right on lake ontario.

thiel is in PA.
it's like two hours away from where i live.

I definitely want to apply to Hofstra in Long Island. Gotta love them Jews. :)
