so i had braces for a VERY long time, around four years. i got them off around two years ago and i am to wear invisalign braces after. it's been really long time since i've worn them last and i noticed my teeth have shifted a bit. i tried putting the invisalign retainer back in my mouth but it hurts soooooo much and gives me a bad headache. it's been a year since i've seen my orthodontist. i don't want to go back and him say i should get braces again :/

Can't you just get a different invisalign or a retainer?

Well I don't know- I've never had braces.. but that seems logical if they've only shifted a little ya know?
Who knows

your teeth shift a little bit after you get your braces off. like they had to make me a new retainer since mine shifted so much that it snapped my top retainer. but new retainers are so frickin' expensive.

Yeah you can get one re made to fit your new teeth alignment... but yeah I know just one here is about £40, so pretty expensive for plastic...
But it depends if you actually want to leave your teeth how they are, if you find they're noticeably less straight or not. I know that those retainers detect the tiniest amount of movement so i'm guessing they probably still look straight.

This happened to me but the bottom front two teeth moved quite a bit, barely noticeable to others but i could feel it all the time with my tongue so i got my braces back on the bottom (it was free for me here, but i know they're so expensive also) for only a few months now I have this thing on the back on my front teeth just the front 4 top and bottom and it's a really thin bit of wire glued on, so no metal brackets. and i dont have to worry about wearing those horrible retainers. That might be something you could consider.

yeah my dentist noticed the movement and so do my parents, only when they stare at my teeth though. i don't mind the retainer. i only have to wear it at night, but i often fall asleep before putting it in. and now it doesn't really fit. i just hate to go back and have them be disappointed and whateverrrr.

Yeah that was my problem, i just forgot then the front on one split a tiny bit and i couldnt be bothered to go back and so that tiny bit made them move loads. I'd suggest getting it sorted now though, so much easier when you're young. And you wont want braces when you're like 40!

HolaGurrl (im sory i've forgotten your name!), This is a retainer

or there are ones with a metal piece across the front,... dunno if they're called that too or not though...

this barely has anything to do with the topic but is it possible to get braces on the back of your teeth so you don't notice them?

you might not even have to get a new retainer, i like never wear mine unless i have to go for a checkup, and it always hurts really bad for a couple of nights when i start wearing it but then it fits again. i hadn't worn mine in monthsss and it still shifted my teeth back after a few days.

i didn't wear mine for a while... like a really long time... and when i put it in, it was the same as you, i got like a wicked headache and it was really tight and hurt really bad. but if you endure the pain for like a day or two, they'll shift back to normal :)
